Christopher Sheldrake, Bass-Baritone, was born in Leicester. He was a Junior Exhibitioner at the Royal Academy of Music, a graduate of the Royal College of Music where he studied with Edward Brooks, and a Layclerk at St. George's Chapel, Windsor. He is currently a Vicar Choral at Wells Cathedral. |

has sung with the Monteverdi Choir conducted by Sir John Eliot Gardener,
the Musicke Company with whom he made his Wigmore Hall debut, and the
Gabrieli Consort under Paul McCreesh. Recent solo performances
include most of the mainstream oratorios: Bach's Weinachts Oratorium
(Wells Cathedral), Johannes Passion (Tilford Bach Festival), St. Matthew
Passion (conducted by Sir David Willcocks at the memorial concert for
Sir Keith Faulkner, Royal College of Music), Monteverdi Vespers (Truro
Cathedral), Messiah (St. Patrick's Cathedral, Armagh and St. Martin
in- the- Fields, London), Mozart's Requiem with the London Mozart Players
(Madrid, Segovia) and Verdi's Requiem (Downside Abbey). Christopher has been involved in many recordings with labels such as Hyperion, Priory, Lammas, and Regent. Recordings with Deutsche Grammophon's Archiv label include Biber's F Minor Requiem, Mozart's C Minor Mass (Gabrieli Consort & Players), and more recently Haydn's The Creation with the Gabrieli Consort & Players and Chethams School Chamber Choir. Future engagements include Messiah (Armagh, Northern Ireland, and Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford), Handel's Athalia with the Orquesta Nacional de Espana (Madrid), Puccini's Messa di Gloria (Bonhelm, Denmark), Handel's Oratorio Samson (Oslo) and the UK premiere of Giacomo Puccini's Requiem Mass at The Queen's College, Oxford.
